Basic HIV/AIDS Fundamentals (There is a fee for this class)
“Learning about the disease is the beginning of healing the community.”

Fundamentals
Participants in these sessions--

  • Learn the facts about HIV and AIDS and discuss them.
  • May develop a personal "contract with myself" to choose specific ways they will apply the facts about HIV to their own behavior.
  • Explore in greater depth a topic of special interest to the group, such as women and HIV or parent-child communication.
  • Watch and discuss a video about people living with HIV or AIDS.

At the completion of this course and the passing of the HIV test the attendant will receive a Red Cross Certification Card.

**This course covers the basic financial topics.  The subject matter begins with a description of deposit and credit service offered by financial institutions and moves progressively to topics such as choosing and maintaining a checking account, budgeting, saving, and the use of credit effectively.  This course is geared towards teenagers, college students and adults. At the completion of this course the students will receive a certificate of completion.

**There is a fee for this course.  At the completion of this course a FIRST TIME HOME OWNER will qualify for a deposit in the form of a grant towards their down payment on their new home.  Please contact our office for the fee.  There will also be a certificate given for the completion of this course.

Basic Employment and Daily Living Skills Program
“Education is the beginning of understanding”

 This curriculum was developed to provide training in independent living, basic skills, prevocational and vocational skills to students with varying abilities.  This will also include Homeless veterans and people that are infected by HIV/AIDS and are getting back into working within society.

  • Sheltered Employment
  • Competitive Employment
  • Leisure Time

Each of these curriculum areas is divided into several subject areas.  Within each subject area there is a series of sequential lessons.  Each lesson includes a specific objective that identifies the expected learning outcome, instructional strategies to provide the student with opportunities to develop the specific skill, and specific assessment tasks to measure the student’s mastery of the skills.

A certificate will be given at the completion of this course.
