Interns
"Dear Mr. Alford,
I want to take the time to personally thank you for the wonderful opportunity of working with you all. Each person at ODRC has taught me valuable lessons that I will remember for a life time. Before this, I can honestly say I had no idea there were organizations working so hard to make such a difference in the community. I appreciate everything I have learned and have definitely changed my outlook on life. I have enjoyed every day working for this organization and I hope to continue open communication. Thank you again for the opportunity and it was a pleasure getting to know you all. Please, let me know if my services can be of use in the future."

"During my time at Open Door Resource Center it was a great experience. The staff was always friendly and inviting. I liked how we learned the process of grant writing. I liked how if we wanted to help with something we would be able too. I like how everyone was caring and always checked to see how the interns were doing. I liked how we would pray every day before we started our day. I look forward to my time there next semester. I would like more client interaction next semester so I could get more experience with working with clients."

"Overall, I feel that my time interning at Open Door Resource Center, Inc. (ODRC) has indeed been a positive one. Before coming to intern here, I did not know much about veterans and the issues they faces while reintegrating into civilian society. However, since being here I have become significantly more knowledgeable about the different types of claims veterans can file for, the different physical and mental injuries many of them return home with, and the struggle many face to find employment. Not to mention, I have learned the process that goes into writing a grant.
What I enjoyed the most about ODRC is the fact that everyone treats each other as if they are family and works as a team. In addition, I like the fact that the staff values each other’s opinions. Also, everyone at ODRC included my fellow classmates and me as if we were coworkers rather than interns. Additionally, each morning, Mr. Alford begins the day with a morning prayer which I feel is great because it begins the day with a positive attitude. Lastly, I appreciate the fact that Mr. Alford does not micromanage his employees and could always be counted on for his great sense of humor.
I do not have any negative remarks about my time spent at ODRC, I only wish I would have been able to interact with the clients more. However, I do understand that as juniors, it was not required that we spent a significant amount of time with the clients. In all, I appreciate the opportunity I was given to intern at ODRC and I will truly miss interning here next year."
